DOCX
Word document
DOCX is the Microsoft Word format since Word 2007 (Office Open XML). It is the most common format for editable documents such as reports, letters and forms.
Extensions: .docx
Convert DOCX files to PDF on Windows 10 and 11: free, offline and in batches. Drag the files onto PDF in Filee's format donut and the PDF files appear next to the originals.
In File Explorer or on the desktop, select one DOCX file or as many as you like.
Hold Ctrl (or the key you set in Filee) and drag the files. A donut of formats opens at the cursor. Prefer menus? Right-click and choose Convert with Filee.
Release the files over PDF. A progress ring counts up, and each PDF file is saved next to its original.
No Microsoft Word or LibreOffice needed: Filee reads the DOCX itself and lays out the pages with headers, footers, tables and pictures. Drop several documents on the merge preset to combine them into one PDF.

PDF document
PDF is the standard for sharing documents that must look the same everywhere: fonts, layout and images are fixed and it opens on any device. That also makes PDFs hard to edit.
