Markdown
Markdown is a lightweight plain-text markup: # for headings, * for lists, ** for bold. It is popular for notes, README files and documentation, and is readable even without rendering.
Extensions: .md .markdown
Convert Markdown files to PDF on Windows 10 and 11: free, offline and in batches. Drag the files onto PDF in Filee's format donut and the PDF files appear next to the originals.
In File Explorer or on the desktop, select one Markdown file or as many as you like.
Hold Ctrl (or the key you set in Filee) and drag the files. A donut of formats opens at the cursor. Prefer menus? Right-click and choose Convert with Filee.
Release the files over PDF. A progress ring counts up, and each PDF file is saved next to its original.
Headings, lists (including task lists), tables, code, quotes, links, images, footnotes and math are laid out on A4 pages, without Pandoc, LaTeX or a browser. A quick way to share notes and README files with people who don't read Markdown.

PDF document
PDF is the standard for sharing documents that must look the same everywhere: fonts, layout and images are fixed and it opens on any device. That also makes PDFs hard to edit.
