Advanced SubStation Alpha subtitles
ASS (Advanced SubStation Alpha) is the styled subtitle format of anime fansubs and Aegisub, with fonts, colours, positions and effects. Many devices and sites only take plain SRT.

How to convert ASS to SRT on Windows

Select your ASS files
In File Explorer or on the desktop, select one ASS file or as many as you like.

Hold Ctrl and drag
Hold Ctrl (or the key you set in Filee) and drag the files. A donut of formats opens at the cursor. Prefer menus? Right-click and choose Convert with Filee.

Drop on SRT
Release the files over SRT. A progress ring counts up, and each SRT file is saved next to its original.

When a TV, a phone or a video site refuses styled ASS subtitles, plain SRT works. Bold, italics, underline and colours are kept; positions, fonts and effects are dropped.
